May 16th at 8:30 pm I was Home! This past week as been wonderful. Being back on the Ranch with my parents, brothers and all the boys has has given me a joy that nothing can take away!
Last Friday I got the chance to help the boys get their animals washed and ready for the 4H-Fair! Enjoy the photos below!

If you ever get the chance to visit the Ozarks, take the opportunity! Yesterday I went canoeing with my Dad, I think I have found a new hobby! The beauty of the Ozark Mountains is just glorious! When We got back to the Ranch I found the boys loading and unloading hay.

Pray that the boys will continue to grow and be able to look inside themselves and understand how much God loves them. Pray that they will begin to understand the power of God's forgiveness and the power of His Love. They are good boys, they just need to find who they are and cling close to their Savior. The Internship has begun!
Today was my first day in my internship at Woodland Hills Family Church. I got a tour and met many great people. I was given my first project! I am excited to begin and hopefully help Woodland Hills and also learn so much about graphic design, working with others, growing and maturing.
I met with my adviser today, Ted. It was so good to hear what he had to say and see the excitement he to work with me this summer. A lot of things that Ted said made so much sense. He began to inform me that the church tends to gear who they are and what they do towards an audience of about 21-35 years of age. But they also have a very diverse age range in their congregation so they need to keep that in mind as well. So, I will need to understand and work with that when I will be working on the various projects assigned to me.
Another thing that Ted brought up was the fact that I will have people critiquing my work and not to take it personally. I know that so often when artist, myself included, are critiqued they take it personally because of all the time and effort they put into the project. We put ourselves into all that we do. I need to know and remind myself of this. I don't want to judge people based on how they critique what I do. I want to keep an open mind and allow this skills that God has blessed me with to help out and be a tool for Woodland Hills this summer!
Woodland Hills is considered an Orange Church. (this, I think is really cool!) I guess the pastor uses an illustration of a jar full of lemon drops, yellow. He says that the lemon drops are all time the parents can offer and give their children. Then he puts a handful of red hots in the with the lemon drops and explains how this is all the time the church as to offer the kids. So, it is the job of the church to train and teach the parents, since they have all the time in the world to raise up their children. Which is completely true. It is the job of the parents to train and teach their children. Seeing the boys at the ranch I have been able to be understand how much of an importance parents are to their children. I am in turn so thankful that I was blessed with such a great pare of parents who have completely allowed God to show them and help them raise their children.
I am excited to learn so much more this summer!!!
Another cool opportunity that I had today was to share some of my knowledge with one of the children directors at the church. She had some questions with Adobe Element. I was surprised that I knew how to answer her questions. I guess that through all the time at school I feel like I haven't learned much but then when I look back at what I knew before my freshman year, I realize how much I have learned. It is really exciting!
PROJECT #1
So the first project I was assigned was to create and design a sign that will be place in front of the church showing which direction each of the opportunities at the church are located. Such as, the Church Office, Youth Center, Worship Center and Children & Preschool Center. Check back in soon to see how it turns out!
