Wednesday_Day14

Whew... I can finally breath. Today was busy...

This is just something my Dad asked me to do for him... It was really fun... took a lot of time, ha, but now I know I can totally change something! Check it out!

Before Photoshop

After Photoshop

I guess this Bronco is some one of a kind, special edition. It beats me but Dad sure did like the outcome!

INTERNSHIP:
Well... Today started out by searching and learning about papers and all the different options. I am learning the what different weights mean, 20lbs, 32lbs, 110lbs, if you want glossy, or matte, the brightness of the paper. There are so many options, so many choices. Currently I am learning it all from books... but I think I would be much better if I could feel and see all the different options.

The July and now August Bulletin is being sent to the printers as I type this post!!! So Exciting. I can't wait to see it in print and finished. It is funny how you think you are done with a project but the final steps are so long and there are so many. Just little things here and there, but they matter greatly if you want your piece to be a perfect as possible. Take a look at the series of changes and revisions to just the front of the bulletin:

#1

#2

#3 - 6 different ways

#4 The Final Piece

Now to the back of the Bulletin:

#1

#2 Final Piece!

Also. Remember the Sister's logo that I worked on for the Ladies Group here at the Church. Well that too has been through a lot of changes. Not only has the logo changed but also the name of the group. It went from Sisters to Coffee House to Coffee Conversations. I am very pleased with how this project ended.
#1

#2 - Two different ideas

#3 - one of the ideas taken and then modified

#4 - Critiques and then finished!
What was critiqued; they decide no coffee beans, I agreed (the coffee beans were only in because the ladies wanted them) , also they wanted the coffee stains to look like lady sized mugs. Made a lot of sense to me and I am glad they gave me the critiques! Finally the last thing I worked on today: Diaper Tags for Critter Street, aka, Nursery. Now... A lot of design has already been made for the Critter Street so I just used graphics and decided a layout for the tags.

I am feeling much better today about my frustrations yesterday. I love it that we can always give anything that is bothering us to the Lord and takes it all. But not just takes it but shows us that the frustration we once had was silly. Today while I was saving the final project to get ordered, I realized that I do know what I am doing. I have been able to learn it on my own and figure out what the best process is in printing! Now the web stuff is another story but I am having a good day so far so I am not going to think about it! ha

Tuesday_Day13

Things are getting final and in a few days will be on there way to the printers!

A few things that I get frustrated with. I feel like I don't know anything about the printing process, (because of a long story and a few not well thought out decisions from HU in my Visual Communications Class) I am slowing learning everything though. Thankful I can learn form my internship, but I get frustrated that I have to ask and don't know how to finish everything properly.

Another frustration is that (once again from some not well thought out decisions from HU) I don't know much about Web. Now the place I am doing my internship doesn't know much about the web either, so this really does not come in handy for me. They look to me, the Graphic Design Major to know a little about WebDesign. I get frustrated because I paid for the class and now I am going to have to find time in my life to teach myself.

Oh... well. I need to not get frustrated and realize that God has a plan. I need to just lean on him in trials and frustrations. So... I am not going to, or well at least not try to, let it get me down!!

Ran out of time today to upload some pictures. So just wait for tomorrow... and you will see some neat graphics!

Thanks for all the support!

Another Week Down
(found a great new Pandora Station: Sarah McLachlan! Great music for today)

So remember yesterday the whole Solutions theme for the July Bulletin fell through, and Denise and I brainstormed hardcore to try and think of how we could design the bulletin. Well we decided to go with the Paul & Timothy Theme! Well... after work yesterday my job was to go back to the ranch and take photos that would communicate this very theme.

Today... I got right to work, editing and enhancing the photos I took last night, with a total of 150 shots. I narrowed it down to 27 then within the 27 shots I easily narrowed it down to 6 photos, that I believed communicated the story the best!

Here are the top 6 photos added into the bulletin:

The Girls here in the office quickly narrowed it down to one! And... luckily they all picked my favorite as well. Then it was time for Pastor Ted to look through it. He picked the same on and said, send it to the printer!! (our only stump now is that I sent it to Ted B and he emailed back saying that there were a few changes that he would like to make on it) So we will see what happens on Tuesday but for now... Here is the July Bulletin:

Front

Back

Also, Remember that Sisiters logo that I put together a few days ago. Well They have changed the name now to Coffee House. So I have been working on a few ideas for that as well today...
Idea #1

Idea #2
To finish out the day I have officially finished the signs I began working on in the beginning of my internship. They are completely done. No more tweaking!!! Just need to be sent to the Printers... (which secretly I am a little freaked out about because I have no idea how to do that... you see for my Visual Communications and Graphics Class, which is when I would have learned this process, my class and I got the enjoyment to have to deal with a new professor who had no training in teaching whatsoever. To make a long story short I will just say, it wasn't good.)

Jesus Was Homeless
. tonight!

looking forward to a night with the brothers! And... remember that family that has ten kids that I was talking about the other day... well some of the kids are coming with us tonight! I am looking forward to getting to know them more!!! Pray that we all shine the Love of Jesus Christ tonight to the homeless in Branson.

Well... thats all for today! It was a busy, great day! Once again I am learning, growing and loving what I do! I think this weekend I am truly going to try and dig my kilns out of our garage (which is still packed full from the move) so that I can test them and start firing the ceramics the boys at the Ranch made this last winter. I don't spend as much time with them this summer as last and I really miss that. So I am going to find ways to fix that!!!

Wednesday_Day11

funny thing happened today. ha

So the brochure/bulletin that I have been working on for the month of July is titled Solutions because that is one of things that is offered on Wednesday nights. Well the ministry that the church gets the Solutions curriculum from shut there doors. So... Solutions is no longer a good idea to put on the monthly brochure/bulletin. HA ...

Today Denise and I brainstormed hard core trying to figure out what to put on July brochure/bulletin. Well the church is doing a series on Timothy and Paul. Some of you may know about Timothy and Paul but for those of you who don't, Paul took Timothy under his wings and began mentoring him. Timothy began to look up to Paul and they traveled and worked together with this relationship which inspired and encouraged each of them. So We, Denise and I, wanted to put something on the brochure/bulletin to emphasis this action, this way of life.

Some things we through out:
Those in a simple question - Do you have a Paul? Are you being a good Paul? Do you need to be a Timothy? Do you need to find a Timothy?

Then Denise brought up the 5 purposes of the Church which are; Connect, Grow, Worship, Send, Serve.

We then began to brainstorm about taking a picture that would communicate all 5 of these purposes. (I am now very thankful for the last photography class I took... every single photo project we did had to have a concept behind it and communicate something) Now my job is to arrange a photo that communicates, Connect, Grow, Worship, Send, Serve.

This is my thought. Using my brother, and a boy from the Ranch!!! I can't wait to get home to work on it!!!!

Also, The Directory Sign and the Entry-Way Sign are soon to be sent to the printers!!! Just a few more tweaks and they will be finished!!!! Such a great feeling!

Heat Advisory Today

It's a hot one today. 99 degrees outside with a Heat index over 100.

Working. working. working. Designing. Redesigning. And starting over.

The joys of Art. There are just so many options that some days it seems impossible to design just one thing. I am currently working on the July Brochure trying to figure out what is all suppose to be on while trying to make it all look summery and appealing to the eye.

Last weekend.
There is a family that is volunteering at the Ranch. This family has 10 kids. Crazy but so beautiful. They are all so well behaved and so personable. Someday I hope that I can have a family like that! I have been blessed to meet them and get this week to get to know them more! I love seeing families that shine the joy and love of Jesus Christ!

Thursday_Day9

With the joy of getting to drive 45 min both ways to get to my internship, I get the opportunity to do a lot of thinking
! Today I realized how beautiful everything is around me. My family, friends, jobs, internship, Missouri, Indiana, HU! The sun was shinning and there was a faint fog in the air, which allowed me to drive through the sun rays! It was pure Beauty. How often do we get behind the wheel and only focus on the car in front of us that is driving too slow, or the fact that we have 10 minutes to get to our destination but will be late in 5 minutes. Today I realized how important it is to just relax, take your time and soak in the beauty God has given us to enjoy every minute of our lives. No wonder most of us are worriers, stressed, unhappy, and tired. We just go go go and never slow down to see God all around us. My Goal for this summer, and the rest of my life, is to not be in a rush. Not to let the Clock control my life, and be able to see how God blesses my life with all of his Beauty! It's definitely there. I just need to begin to truly see it all!

I am so blessed to have possibly the best internship ever! I am surrounded with great people to work with and enjoy everything they give me to do! This makes me so excited because lately I have been wondering if I picked the right major and hoping that I hadn't wasted the last three years in college just doing art. Don't get me wrong I still Love every minute of art but Just didn't know if it was wise to major in it. Well... Now I know for sure that I am right where God wants me. I have no idea what is to come or what I am going to do a year from now when I graduate but I do know that I am absolutely loving being right where He wants me!

It is great that in my internship I am not only learning more about graphics but also learning how to communicate, share and grow as a person. I am learning how important it is to have a positive attitude through anything, no matter what. I am learning how to be open to critique and willing to work with people on many things. It's more than I had expected, and I just love it!

Last weekend

Well Friday night was so fun! We decided to try Pizza on the Grill!!! You should definitely try it!!! It is so easy and so fun. Pizza is already so great but this makes it so much better!

It's best when you can cut some fresh herbs such as cilantro, basil... it makes the pizza delish!
They are such great Chefs!!! My two little brothers!
Find any ingredient that you think you would love on a pizza. Feel free to experiment and create anything you desire!
Delicious!!!

Saturday:
Don't you just love the joys that summer brings... Sunshine, Swimming, Sunshine, and fresh Fruit!!! Blueberry picking is in right now!!! YUM YUM

Wednesday_Day8

Don't you just love making list and then getting to cross off each item on your list. Today I started with a pretty long list. Now at the end of the day the list is all crossed off!!!! Exciting!

I have learned something new that Photoshop can do. I swear I will never fully understand everything in these adobe programs. Today I have lucky ran across the color overlay application! It is great and saves so much time!

What I have accomplished today:
>Designed and Finished the t-shirt for the stud
ent mission trip
>Designed the July monthly brochure

Now, once again I have designed more than one. I have my favorite but I have not shown them to Ted yet so we will see which one gets chosen!

>Designed and finished a Woman's Group Logo
>Worked on the layout of a graphic for a program here at the church to be posted on the web

WHEW...
I am ready to get back to the Ranch. Stop staring at a computer screen and take it easy the rest of the night!! or... maybe I will continue and try to finish the office at the Ranch. I am really liking how it is turning out! Photos will be posted eventually. It has been a long process. oh. I also have another project that is soon to begin. My very talented father is going to help and teach me how to do wood working. A new Dinning Room Table will soon be mine, made by me!

I can't wait to share about what all I did last weekend. Hopefully tomorrow I will find some time to upload photos and such about it all!

May you all be blessed today and enjoy the sunshine that summer brings!!

Tuesday_Day7

Yet another GREAT DAY!!!

Time at the church today was just wonderful. I spent some time chatting with Denise. She is such as sweet lady! I feel like I am going to learn so much from her. After taking some time to chat I went right to work on revising and finishing up the lesson plan book! It is done :) Such a great feeling.

DESIGN #2 was picked!!!! Now the church is in a castle looking building and the outside of it is cream. I was worried that black and white would clash horrible on a sign that is to go on top of the castle. So I suggested to through in some brown or cream or something into the design. They liked the suggestion and this is what the final piece looks like!

Now... Remember my first Project? Well Scroll down and take a look at it. This sign is also going to be put in front of the church. Ted got to thinking and decided that it would be best for the two signs to match and go together. So I redesigned the Directory Sign to look like this:

NEXT PROJECTS:
designing a logo for a Women's Groups titled Sisters here at the church.
Creating a t-shirt design for the upcoming Youth Mission Trip
Designing and Layout of the upcoming Monthly brochure
designing a graphic for the website

Yes Sir.... I am going to be busy. But I love it!

This last weekend was wonderful! I enjoyed time spent with my family! Saturday at the Blueberry Patch Festival was oh so much fun. Sunday afternoon I talked everyone into going to the lake! We had a blast. Even though we don't have a boat we were able to enjoy time in the sun and on the lake!!! Man... we should would love to have a boat thought. It is quite a shame to live two minutes from one of the best lakes in the US and not be able to go boating on it all the time. Maybe someday we will get one!!

Hope you all are having a great week so far!
Remember to live your life for the Lord at ALL times!

Thursday_Day6

Two weeks down... Nine more left.

Wow... I can't believe there are only Nine weeks left of my internship. The past two weeks have been truly amazing. I have loved every minute! I am blessed to have amazing people to work with! The staff here at WHFC are incredible. Always in a good mood and always so friendly!! I am so thankful for that!

Well... I have been working on the lesson book all day today. (Except for lunch time... Austin and Megan came up and took me out to lunch... it was delish!) I really like how it is coming! Here is an example of one of the pages.

Now my job for this project was just to revamp it. The project needed to be more eye appealing and fit their vision for it. Also, there was a lot of text on each page which made it not interesting to look at, so I was asked to fix the layout of it. When they first came to me I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it. I have never worked on such a large document. But, I quickly caught on and have truly enjoyed tweaking it and adding in some flair!

THIS WEEKEND

I have some fun planned for this weekend! There is a blueberry patch a few minutes from the Ranch and they are having their annual festival on Saturday!! Blueberry Cobbler Contest, some Blue Grass, Blueberry Picking and much more! I guess the blueberry patch gives the proceeds from the festival to the Ranch, which is pretty cool!
After that I will be helping out at the Thrift Store... hoping to find some good stuff as I work!

One man's junk is definitely my treasure!!!

BUT....
before the weekend starts I am off to Jesus Was Homeless to serve people in Branson with my favorite brothers ever!!!

Wednesday_Day5

Another Successful Day!!!

Worked on revising, revamping, the lesson plan book! It has been fun, and best of all I have gotten the chance to be creative and jazz it up a bit! There won't be any postings of the lesson book until I am finished... so stay tuned to see what it looks like
.

Fun with the Boys!!
The other weekend my brothers and I visited Pettigre
w, Arkansas!

Who would have thought that there would be a town named after us? Well It wasn't much of a town. Sad to say there really wasn't much there at all. But that didn't stop us from having a BLAST!

>my little brothers

>my big brother
Before we made it to Pettigrew, we stopped at the best thrift store I have ever been too! I enjoyed taking some pictures of the place as well as wishing for some extra cash to buy.... everything, ha.

Tuesday_Day4

Back and ready for the next 10 weeks!!!!

You have to visit this amazing link to see what I have been up to for the last week
http://richweddings.com/main.php#/gallerie
s/Recent%20Weddings/Micala%20and%20Jordan/88

Just got back to MO. I spent all last week with my very best friend, helping her get ready for her wedding, which was Friday! And.... It was beautiful. She was Gorgeous! I was so blessed to be her Maid of Honor!

Today at the Internship!
Work is going wonderfully! I was assigned Project#2! Designing a banner for the entry way of the church. The information I was given was that it was to be Black, White, and Simple. Well I came up with two Ideas. I have a favorite but would love to hear from you as to which one you like the best!

Design #1

Design #2

I am also working on rearranging, editing, and fixing the new youth lesson plan book that WHFC is working on publishing! It is fun, frustrating, and challenging, but I am enjoying it. I am learning how to design something so that it is pleasing to the eye, yet also readable, simple, and organized. I find it always easy to design a piece that is pleasing to the eye but I have to constantly remind myself that this piece can't just be artsy, it has a purpose.

.RANCH

I am always proud of the boys at the ranch but there is one in particular that has been shinning lately. I have seen him helping and loo
king out for others without him knowing anyone was watching. Take a look at these series of photos!

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to see God work everyday! I know that I don't want to live the ordinary Christian American Life. Get up... work 8 to 5, go to church on Sundays. I want my whole life to be consumed with serving the Lord, I want to dive into Ministry and share with others the wonderful love and grace of Jesus Christ!!! Right now I am praying that God with continue to lead me through the path that is His! I pray that I will be content with where I am right now and always allow God to make the decisions in my life, even if that means that I can't see the next step.

I pray that you too will let God take FULL control of your life. It is so difficult and I am far from perfecting it, but I do know we all need to strive for that in our life!

God Bless
